Spokespup Toby the Dog films self on Go Pro Camera

What happens when you mix a Chesapeake Bay retirever, 800 students and, a Go Pro Camera?

A video that shows life through the dog's eyes!

Toby the dog was a spokespup at a recent bully prevention event Pink Shirt Days in Lac La Biche Alberta Canada.

This video is a summary of his highlights and how he saw the event.  And, the incredible reactions from all the students and adults he met.

Pretty safe to safe to say that life through Toby's eyes is a pretty pawsome life.

Stop Chasing Your Own Tail- our dogs, our friends, our teachers

Mom is interviewing a pawesome guest November 12 on PAWsitive RadioJeanne E Sexson will be talking about her website Stop Chasing Your OwnTail- our dogs, our friends, our teachers.

They are going to barking out stories about how #dogs connect people (mom is always going on about how I connect her to so many people. I can't help it! People think I'm adorable and stop to meet me!). And I can't wait for Jeanne to share stories about the Furry 5.

Did you know that dogs can be pawsome teachers?  Look at everything I have taught my pet parents....

1) That if I look adorable with my head resting on the deck and my kong sitting close by and then I turn my head between them and the Kong guess what happens?  They come throw the Kong (after talking about how adorable I am and snapping more pictures), and then I look like this. Have I got them trained on my routine or what!

 2)  We also teach about the pawprints you leave in life.  I think everyone should show up as their best version of themselves and, make your moments matter.  Leave a big pawprint on life!

And on November 12, Jeanne will share some other great stories and lessons from dogs.  Just so you know, here's a bit about Jeanne:  Jeanne is a  national motivational speaker and author who combines her love and respect for animals and a fascination with how they respond to their experiences. She has found this gratifying to note how the quality of her life has been enhanced by the lessons they have taught, and continue to teach, her.  As a sculptor, she created the Best Friends Collection – small sculptures capturing those irresistible moments of joy when we allow ourselves to simply live in the moment and feel the unconditional love of our furry buddies.

Until next week, let's be kind to one another.

Brain Development for Healthy Children- resilience and more.

My pet mom’s taking over my blog today.

My Mom...Charmaine Hammond and I

She watched this pawsome video by Alberta Family Wellness that talks about brain development for kids.

It’s pretty technical so she’ll finish the blog and I’m off to play fetch.

Toby’s right, this four minute video is full of important information to help parents give their child have healthy brain development.  The video talks about the importance of the type, quality and frequency of interactions with young children and how these can contribute to and build a “healthy brain architecture.”  You can watch the short video here:

What I really appreciated was their message about the destructive impacts of unhealthy stress in the family (such as bullying, addictions, emotional outbursts, etc.). How you show up in life matters, and makes a difference (a positive one or negative one).  Here at Team Toby, we are on a mission to show up in life in a way that makes a PAWsitive difference, and to improve lives by teaching kindness, acceptance and respect.  This includes helping workplaces communicate respectfully and clearly, build healthy teams to support professional relationships, peacefully resolve conflicts and address issues with dignity and integrity.  In families and schools, it is our goal to teach these same principles.

From having worked as a Correctional Officer then later as a mediator, I saw first hand the power, and positive (even life changing in some cases) outcomes that resulted from the treatment of kindness, acceptance and respect.  And of course I saw the other side too... the devastating impacts of abuse, aggression, and bullying,

October is Child Abuse Prevention Month. Let's help children build healthy futures by supporting healthy brain development.  Together we can make a difference!
