Santa Ana was a four paws up stop!

The Million Acts of Kindness Tour stopped in Santa Ana California, and a great time was had by all!

It started off by Dogtopia South Coast picking us up in Sport, the Dogtopia mobile pick up service.  They came right to our motorhome which was parked at Bolsa Chica State Park campground.  This was most appreciated as otherwise we would have had to move the motorhome.

Toby was greeted by the Dogtopia South Coast staff and enjoyed a day of play and fun at doggy daycare.  The standout for me as a pet parent was the:

- cleanliness of the facility,
- the engagement and support from Dogtopia South Coast clients,
- the exceptional customer service from the Dogtopia South Coast team, and,
- the way in which Dogtopia South Coast supports so many great community organizations and causes.

The team also created a fundraiser for Toby's kindness mission, supporting local schools receiving copies of Toby's book.

Dogtopia South Coast also launched their blanket and towel drive supporting a local shelter. This was the support the minute they launched.  Got to love the Dogtopia South Coast client support :)

At the Saturday Park and Bark Beach Bash, three more huge bags of blankets and towels were dontated.  Talk about kindness!

On Satuday Oct 10, the Park and Bark Beach Bast was a huge success!

A good time was had by all.... tour legged and four legged attendees!

Thanks again to Dogtopia South Coast for hosting us in Santa Ana, and for all that you do to make a difference in the community you serve!

A big thank you to our tour partners who helped us travel North America to share our message of kindness.

Bring Jake Home- a rescue story with a happy new beginning

Toby the dog here!

I'm a dog with a blog on a mission to change the world through kindness.

And here is a totally pawsome story about a rescue dog Jake, who has a new beginning because of the kindness of others.

You can listen to the update on Jake's happy beginning story here:
 http://www.blogtalkradio.com/teamtoby/2015/04/14/bring-jake-the-dog-home-update-collaboration-at-its-finest-for-pet-rescue

Today's guest blog post is from my friend Lisa Litwinski.
thanks Lisa for sharing Jakes' story with us.

Jake’s amazing  story involves  a community of some of the most incredibly caring & dedicated people in Canada & the USA  who pulled together in a magnificent collaboration to bring this wonderful  rescue dog home to Alberta & give him the best second chance possible.

Lisa Litwinski deeply loves animals and has been devoted to animal rescue her whole life. She heard about an Alberta Black Lab dog who got lost,  ended up in an Imlay Shelter, and launched Bring Jake Home to Alberta.  (Jake did not have a tattoo or microchip. With extensive efforts in Canada & the US we were not able to locate his family.) Lisa partnered with Aimee Orn at Lapeer County Animal Control, Wendy Yax at Lapeer’s Adoptable Animal Rescue in Imlay, Michigan & April Oakes at Infinite WOOFS Rescue in Edmonton, Alberta so that Jake could journey home to a loving foster home while we help him to settle in & find his new forever family. (His Foster Mom Megan volunteered before we had our Alberta rescue in place.

Wonderful people stepped up to join Jake’s team & community of support. )Jake’s story is one of LOVE, hope, & kindness, & the positive difference we can make.  It is an honour to have worked with so many caring, thoughtful people who have collaborated to help Jake. Thank you profiles of our Jake team & family members are on Jake’s Facebook page: Bring Jake Home to Alberta, with more to come. Please stop by and get to know these wonderful people.

Our boy JAKE IS HOME & settling in very well! Thanks to everyone for caring, sharing, & helping us to help give Jake the fabulous second chance he deserves. He is one incredibly wonderful dog and everyone who meets him falls in love with him. Jake is a happy and affectionate boy who is part Lap Dog. J He loves to snuggle time, snack time, play time with his tennis ball, and truck rides.

We are fundraising to cover additional care & vet expenses for Jake in Alberta. Jake has an approved Charity ATB Financial Community Spirit bank account: Bring Jake Home. Contact: BringJakeHometoAlberta@shaw.ca for ways to donate or private message Jake’s page. We accept Pay Pal to a friend & transfer.  Check out Jake’s Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/bringjakehometoalberta or Twitter: @BringJakeHomeAB  #BringJakeHometoAlberta    Jake’s profile is on the wonderful: InfiniteWOOFS.org

Changing the world one dog bed at a time

Toby the dog here.

Yes.... I am a dog on a mission!

My humans and I are on a mission to build a kinder Canada one paw, one person at a time!  It's called PAWS Across Canada.

We meet the most PAWmazing people on our tour.

I'd like you to meet my new friend.  Maizie!

She is a 12 year old grade 8 student on a big mission.  She is changing the world through dog beds! I just LOVE LOVE LOVE what she is doing to change the world!

Here I am on the dog bed Maizie made.  Since we left Martensville SK, the bed and I have traveled to Saskatoon, Brandon and Winnipeg.  Have dog bed.....will travel!

These beds are made with LOVE!

When Maizie was in grade 7, a local girl from her school was accepting donations for a nonprofit animal rescue group. Maizie  had made  a few dog beds for family members the decided to give dog beds as a donation.   This decision was a 4 PAWS UP success!

Maizie carefully chooses the fabrics for the dog beds.

You can see how I love the beds and settle right down on them.  I could hardly keep my eyes open, they are so comfy you just want to relax.

Maizie then started Doggy Naps, and she committed to donating part of the dog bed sale profits to the materials she needed to make beds for homeless dogs in rescues and shelters. For every three beds she sells, she donates one to a shelter or rescue.  Maizie has already donated 151 beds!!

Her beds are made with love and she does this purely to help provide dogs with comfort while they wait for their “forever”family.

Everyone in her family plays an important role in Doggy Naps. Even her friends and classmates have helped with this mission.   Mom interviewed her principal and it was clear that he was proud of how Maizie is making a difference in the world and learning incredible entrepreneurial skills.

To find out more about Doggy Naps, Maizie's incredible mission to change the world one dog bed at a time, and, to purchase a bed or donate one, please visit  https://doggynaps-com.3dcartstores.com/

More on Maizie in an upcoming blog.

Remember to follow us on social media, and share the blog,

Thank you to our amazing Paws Across Canada tour Partners.  You have helped us make a PAWsome difference!

Dog on national tour to spread kindness and prevent bullying

Check me out!

I'm a traveling dog.

Traveling dog with a blog!

And

I'm on a mission to spread kindness.

We just finished the first leg of the tour in Alberta and BC Canada

Now, in October, Bully Prevention Month, we are touring Saskatchewan and Manitoba.

I'll be filming the whole tour with my very own GoPro video camera.

Capturing kindness...animal human bond... lessons dogs teach people...and the places we eat, stay and play.

Would you like me to come to your school?

How about your workplace?

Want to have your business featured in our tour?

Contact me to get your community, school and business on the PAWS Across Canada map!

Together we can make a difference.  We'll also be raising funds and awareness for local shelters and rescues with our Twoonie for Team Toby fundraiser.  Watch our website to get involved  www.TheOriginalTeamToby.com

Remember... No Hot Dogs!

Toby.... a dog with a blog!

Thinking about what to write for my dog blog...my head is full of ideas.... thank goodness I have four paws to keep up with my great ideas!

Summer time is here. Don't keep your pets in hot cars!  Our partner on the PAWS Across Canada Tour, Petland Canada is on a mission to promote safe pets in summer through their No Hot Dogs awareness campaign! We had the chance to talk with one of the Petland staff about this campaign at the Edmonon Manning store. We'll be posting our video interview soon.  Petland reminds pet parents to plan ahead of time.... for example... if you are going grocery shopping, your pets are likely better staying at home.  Cars heat up super fast and are dangerous to your pet if you leave them in the vehicle, even for a short time.

At our Edmonton Petland Canada event, we had the chance to share some of our most fave products with the event guests.

One of them is a walking harness that does over the shoulders, and under the belly and is supPAW helpful to me because I really pull on my leash.  This is helping me with leash training.

My books are available at many Petland locations, stop in and check it out!

When we were in Petland Red Deer we got to learn about the fantastic work Petland is doing to promote adoptions. In fact, the Red Deer Alberta store has partnered with Alberta Animal Services and they have a PAWSome  adoption centre right inside the store!  While we were there they celebrated their 900th adoption!  big thanks to Shaw TV Red Deer for coming down to cover the event.

Partnerships and collaborations can save lives and make our world a better place.  Look what Petland Canada is doing to find furever homes by partnering with rescues and shelters, and having a one of a kind adoption centre in the store.

We LUV all of our PAWS Across Canada Tour partners because they make job as an EMBASSADOG of Team Toby so much easier (and four paws up on the FUN scale!).

Project Blue Collar – Support the Underdog™ is a movement to publicly identify and celebrate the rescue dog. Changing the perception of shelter dogs from being damaged to being priceless. It’s a way to share stories and educate and inspire others to give shelter dogs a chance.

Every time you see a Support the Underdog™Blue Collar, you’ll know that another underdog became a hero. A moment of recognition is created, common ground is discovered, and a conversation is started. That’s how movements are born – one conversation at a time – and change begins to happen. They are committed to donating a portion of our profits to animal shelters and rescue groups. Every purchase from Project Blue Collar - Support the Underdog™ matters. It’s that simple.  Website:  www.projectbluecollar.com
